June Summary and the National Conversation on Sex Trafficking

June Summary and the National Conversation on Sex Trafficking

July 19, 2019

June was a month of outreach and consensus-building. We continued to add to our community impact. So far in 2019:

  • 10 Meetings with elected officials
  • 15 Speaking Engagements
  • 2,340 Campaign Postcards Signed by Citizens and sent to elected officials

Global Hope 365 continued to advocate for the end of Child Marriage in California. We closely follow legislative advancements across the United States. The legislative sessions have adjourned for the summer. We had some progress and some disappointments.

Throughout the month of June, we had no idea the bomb that would drop in July with the Epstein indictment. This high profile case allows us to further the conversation on how pervasive sex trafficking in our society and it shows the extent of the abuses of power. These high profile cases are only the tip of the iceberg in this $150 billion crime industry. Please refer to our blog post titled Sex Trafficking Headlines.

July 30th is the annual World Day against Trafficking in Persons. This year the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is focusing on highlighting the importance of Government action in the interest of victims of trafficking. If you are completely disgusted by the details of the Epstein case, please donate to Global Hope 365. Donate Here.

Save the Date! Global Hope 365 and UCI Law School will host a Town Hall meeting on Child Marriage and Human Trafficking on Saturday, September 14th at UCI.
