Bill ends child marriage; passed the House on Wednesday May 3, 2023 and now goes to the Senate. Connecticut is now one step closer to becoming the 9th state to end child marriage.
Maine - LD443
Maine moved LD443 to unfinished business. The bill would set the minimum marriage age at 18 without exceptions. Currently, Maine’s minimum marriage age is 16, and 16- and 17-year-olds must have parental consent.
